MESSAGE FROM TRAINER:

January, 2010

Thank you for your inquiry on the partnership being formed to race the 2YO bay filly by the multiple GROUP ONE winner and sire of champions in CAPE CROSS (Ire).
Cape Cross was a high class and durable race horse winning every season from 2 to 5 years of age - a specialist miler (all 5 wins) and raced only at the highest level.

He retired to stud in Ireland in 2000 and shuttled to New Zealand that year (2000). He shuttled to Darley in Australia in 2006 and 2007. Despite him being a great winner getter he was not especially popular with either broodmare owners or yearling sale buyers in the Southern Hemishphere - quite amazing when his sires stats show him to be the sire of over 65% winners to runners, and over 10% of his progeny are stakes winners.

It is hard to get accurate figures on him but in May of 2009 he had sired 758horses for 464 winners and 48 stakes winners. In addition he has sired a couple of out and out champions in SEA THE STARS and OUIJA BOARD. You can check him out on www.darley.com.au

The filly is out of VERSAILLES PIKE a 2YO winning daughter of PALACE MUSIC (Usa). This is her eighth foal, six named, Five have raced an ALL five have won; they include 9 time winner Little Baldy as well as Versatilla and recent winner Belle Of Dubai.

This filly was small and fat when presented at the Premier Sale. She appealed to us because she had great scope for improvement, a good shoulder and was an absolutely outstanding walker. She grew in some ugly stages but is now 16.HH and we will update her photo in the next week on our web page.

She was laryngoscoped clear of any throat problems at the time of sale.

The filly will be trained at Cranbourne by GREG EURELL. Greg is consistently one of the leading trainers in this state, his current headline horse is the 5 time Gr.1 winner APACHE CAT (BTC Doomben 10,000, MVRC Australia S., VRC Lightning S., VRC Cadbury Guineas etc), MIC MAC, MAJESTICAL, VATC Blue Diamond Prelude winner SHREWD RHYTHM (on sold the D Hayes stable has not won since), WAYNE'S GOLD, our own JUST LIKE EL and WAVELENGTH (TRC Strutt S.) plus the above average 5YO FIRE IN THE NIGHT, GO MISSY, HEY ROSIE etc.

Greg has very similar philosophies to ours - no matter how well conformed and no matter how good (or bad) the pedigree the two things none of us can tell you about a racing prospect are WHAT IS IN ITS HEART and WILL ITS HEAD LET IT BE A RACE HORSE ?

Owning race horses often requires patience and fortitude but we will not waste your money, our current team of 45 horses has only two horses older than four - SHAVILLE and HULA DANE.

I have been a licensed syndicator since 1989. We have just done a full rundown on every horse purchased by Hancox Bloodstock since that time.

We have syndicated 516 horses which are now 2Y0 and older. Hancox Bloodstock has spent just over $5.1 million on purchasing horses(currently 22 unraced 2YO's and a further 10 unbroken 2YO's, plus 12 unraced 3YO's, ) and those horses have returned over $12.5 million. There are now 253 individual winners of 894 races.
Statistics of course are out of date as soon as they have been done but Rod intends to update again shortly.

Most of our horses get to the races; of course some have no ability and others are discarded because they are not up to the required standard in Victoria or NSW but they have successful racing careers in other states for other connections.

Our stakes winners include the obscurely bred SWORD (12 wins including Gr 1 SAJC Goodwood H.), BUZZOFF (10 wins incl STC Lord Mayors Cup), STAR COSSACK (7 - Moonee Valley Oaks, Stuart Crystal S.), KALARING (4 - SAJC Rose Of Kingston S), MAKE A SCENE (10 - Ballarat Cup), REGULATIONS (11 - STC Starlight S,), COLBRANAT (7 - VRC Gibson Carmichael S), COURTLY QUALMS (9 - VRC Auckland H.), plus handy types like SUPER DANE, PURIST, REBEL WITH A CAUSE, BURNING CLAY, TAYARRA, PENTIRELY etc

Our latest stakes winner is the Gr 2 AJC Sapphire Stakes and MRC Le Tan S. winner BELONG TO MANY ($20,000 y'lng. over $440,00 in earnings, on sold for $525,00).

We have just finished another successful racing season with city winners like SALUTE THE STORM and JUST LIKE EL. Promising types like Thwarted, Hula Dane, Shaville,Monzero, Regal Dawn etc. It is worth noting the $11,000 purchase PRIMA NOCTE ticked over $258,000 in earnings from her 8 wins, ROUGH NIGHT won ten, DESERT LAD (3 wins, a second and a third from 6 runs for Allan Denham), WAVELENGTH (earnings over $300,000 multiple city winner and Listed TRC Strutt S.). ,Mosseltov, Jet Kingdom,Paris Icon, Rigotune, Al Khafra, Nobelenus, Solar Spirit, Base Dancer, Scenic Affair, etc continue to race on well for other connections.

The above run down on our company does not include a couple of stars like the 1994 VATC Blue Diamond Stakes winner HURRICANE SKY or stakes winning 2YO's EGYPTIAN IBIS and PRIOR ENGAGEMENT, part of a package of ten horses with Contract Racing or indeed the dual Group 1 winning sprinter MOOKTA selected for Mark Riley.

Our aim is to give you the best possible chance of racing a winner at TAB level - by purchasing an athletic youngster who on percentages gives you a real chance of reaching the winner's circle.

If there is any further information you require or you wish to inspect the filly she is about to be broken in /educated at Blue Mane, Lyndhurst - please do not hesitate to telephone me on (03) 5274 9171.
