Walter stars with Goulburn four-timer

Thursday 13 December 2012, 6:02pm

Guy Walter had a day to remember at Goulburn on Thursday when he trained half of the winners on the eight-race program.

Walter struck early with a treble in the opening three events, all of them odds-on favourites.

Kathy O'Hara started the ball rolling aboard King Of The Forest ($1.90) before Blake Shinn teamed up with both Matignon ($1.60) and the beautifully bred Splash Out ($1.40), a son of Walter's dual Group winner Prisoner Of Love.

Walter had to settle for second in the fourth and fifth events before Canny Ballad delivered his fourth victory of the afternoon a race later.

He is based at Warwick Farm but operates a second stable at Goulburn.
