Loved Up and Yet To Be Convinced are the latest horses to win their way through to the $300,000 Country Championship final at Randwick.
The Brett Cavanough-trained Loved Up beat Yet To Be Convinced from the Scott Spackman stable in Sunday's $100,000 heat at Wagga Wagga.
The first two home in each heat of the series qualify for the final.
The Albury-based multiple country champion trainer Cavanough is no stranger to city racing but said the series gave many the chance to showcase their horses.
"If we got beaten today we were going to the carnival anyway for a three-year-old race of some sort," Cavanough told Sky Racing World.
"I get a fair run in the media but it's great to put us on the stage.
"Everyone deserves a crack at the big cherry and now we've got one."
Loved up came with a late run under Richard Bensley to beat Kathy O'Hara's mount by a half length.
"I had a beautiful run," Bensley said.
"Brett said not to produce her too early.
"The second horse carted me up and she did th rest."
Cavanough's other two runners, Via Terrone and Miss Mellencamp, finished fifth and last respectively in the 16-horse field.
