Sheiswhatitis kick-starts Gollan treble

Wednesday 18 March 2015, 5:39pm

A bog track couldn't stop Sheiswhatsheis confirming her ability when she gave trainer Tony Gollan the first leg of a treble at Ipswich on Wednesday.

Sheiswhatsheis was expected to start a short-priced favourite in the XXXX Gold Handicap (1200m) on the strength of her debut win at Ipswich two weeks ago.

However, a morning storm drenched Ipswich with the track being downgraded to the heavy range.

There were doubts about Sheiswhatsheis on a heavy track and she eventually started $3.50 favourite before strolling home to a 1-1/4 lengths win over Italian Storm ($3.60).

They put a gap on the rest of the field with 5-3/4 lengths to Heart Of Thunder ($5) in third.

It gave the jockey Tegan Harrison and trainer Tony Gollan combination their 25th winner for the season.

"Sheiswhatsheis is pretty smart and she has lived up to what we saw of her on the track early. I think we will look for something better for her in town on a Saturday," Gollan said.

Gollan's treble took him to 55 metropolitan winners for the season and a 17-win lead in the premiership.

His second winner was Annaman who won the Racing Plate (1700m).

Annaman is raced by syndicate headed by prominent owner Joe O'Neill who made his first trip to Ipswich in 30 years to see the last-stride win.

Gollan got his treble when class mare Torando Miss ($5) fought back after being headed to win the Girls On Track Handicap (1200m).

Tornado Miss is on track to contest some of the stakes fillies and mares races in winter after her comeback win.

Connections were repaid for their patience when Joshua's Might ($4.40) won the Maiden Plate at his 28th race start.
