Dwayne Dunn won the Oakleigh Plate on Shamal Wind but the horse which finished third will carry the jockey's hopes of another Group One sprint win in The Galaxy.

Dunn rides Fast `N' Rocking at Rosehill on Saturday and has drawn confidence from his Oakleigh Plate performance which he rates the equal of the winner.

Fast `N' Rocking flashed home out wide at Caulfield to finish third, less than a length from Royal Ascot-bound Shamal Wind.

"If he takes that into the race on Saturday he's got to be more than competitive," Dunn said.

"I was quite surprised when we hit the line that he was with me and that close.

"He followed me in and sprinted as hard as what Shamal Wind did, but I probably just had a length or two on him before he went.

"Shamal Wind would be one of the favourites if she was in The Galaxy and I thought he ran as well as what she did."

Trained by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, Fast `N' Rocking is a $12 Galaxy chance.

A Blue Diamond placegetter as a two-year-old, Fast `N' Rocking was gelded before this season and since the operation the four-year-old has not finished worse than fourth in seven starts.

Dunn has won twice on the son of Fastnet Rock this season highlighted by the Group Three Kevin Heffernan Stakes.

The jockey has also had much to do with Galaxy favourite Deep Field, who he has won on three times.

The Hawkes Racing-trained Deep Field will be out to resurrect his campaign after two defeats in his two autumn starts.

After his third in the Lightning Stakes which Dunn missed through suspension, the sprinter returned to Sydney where he was beaten by Target In Sight.

He has blinkers on in The Galaxy with Tommy Berry retaining the ride but has to contend with the outside gate.

"He's got to get himself back up off the canvas," Dunn said of his Galaxy rival.

"He's probably let the stable down. We know what he can do, and, if he runs from the wide gate, he's got to be respected because the talent is there."

Heart Testa was scratched on Friday with Chloe In Paris gaining a start.
