Dunn hoping to add a Slipper to Diamonds

Four Blue Diamond Stakes wins have not translated to Golden Slipper success for jockey Dwayne Dunn.

But the Melbourne-based rider is hoping a Blue Diamond placegetter can be the horse to land him the $3.5 million Slipper at Rosehill to go with his record number of wins in Victoria's premier race for two-year-olds.

Three of Dunn's four Blue Diamond winners - Undoubtedly (2005), Sleek Chassis (2007) and Reaan (2008)- ran in the Slipper but all finished among the tail-enders.

He rides Lake Geneva on Saturday, the Hawkes Racing-trained two-year-old which finished third in last month's Blue Diamond at her second start.

She has drawn barrier five in her attempt to become the third maiden to win a Slipper on Saturday.

"She needed to have an advantage with the barrier draw and that she's got," Dunn said.

" If she can get the right run in transit I'm sure she can be around the money."

Dunn respects the favourite Vancouver but believes his wide barrier draw evens things up a bit.

"It's a real game-changer for the favourite," he said.

"He doesn't have to lead. He can still sit in the middle of the bunch and still have a good finish. What we've seen of him has been awesome and he's going to take a lot of beating, but barriers play a big part in this race and probably advantages us a bit more than it does the favourite."
