In-form Sydney stayer Cantonese will run in the Perth Cup after arriving in Western Australia on Friday morning.
Trainer Bjorn Baker had been sweating on Cantonese getting a flight to Perth from Melbourne on Friday and was relieved to have those plans confirmed.
"He's in Perth now and appears to have travelled over pretty well this morning," Baker told AAP.
Champion jockey Jim Cassidy will ride the stayer in the $500,000 Group Two race at Ascot on January 1.
"We'll have some fun over there - win, lose or draw," Baker said.
"It will be a good experience."
Cantonese has been a revelation for Baker since he was purchased for stable clients a little more than three months ago.
The gelding has won six of his nine starts for the trainer since September including a six-length victory in the Listed Christmas Cup (2400m) at Rosehill last Saturday.
After that race the Perth Cup appeared on the radar for Baker, and Cantonese will be a late-entry for the 2400m race.
"I guess the question mark will be going left-handed but he's handled everything else we've put in front of him, so fingers crossed," Baker said.
