Actuariat showed promise with provincial wins in his first preparation and trainer Greg Eurell is convinced the gelding is a better prospect again as he prepares for his return at Sandown.

The three-year-old resumes in Wednesday's Appelles Handicap for his first city test and Eurell is confident he is primed for the task.

"He's ready to go, there's no shadow of a doubt about that," Eurell said.

"I think he'll run a pretty bold race for us tomorrow. Purposely we've been waiting to make sure that everything is right to kick off with and it certainly is tomorrow so he'll make his presence felt. He's a nice horse, this bloke."

Actuariat won two of his three starts in his first campaign beginning with a maiden win on debut at Mornington in October, beating subsequent stakes-placed filly Ready To Fight.

The son of Domesday then finished fourth to Real Time at Ballarat before rounding out his campaign with victory in a benchmark race at Sale.

"He's come back very well from his spell and seems to have improved," Eurell said.

"He's strengthened up a little bit more and mentally he's certainly a better product this time around too.

"I think Sandown will suit him ideally even though he's drawn a little bit awkwardly. At least he'll have an opportunity to balance up and work home."

Eurell said Actuariat was showing he could potentially be stakes class and the Listed Adelaide Guineas (1600m) is an option this campaign.

"He's a genuine racehorse with quite a bit of upside," Eurell said.

Actuariat, to be ridden by Chris Symons from the outside gate in the 1200m benchmark race, is the $3.20 favourite over fellow three-year-old Vuelta ($3.40), and is the best of Eurell's three runners on the Sandown program.
