She's feisty and prefers her own company but there's nothing about Greytfilly that Robert Heathcote wants to change.
Heathcote believes Greytfilly's attitude is part of what makes her such a keen competitor as the two-year-old completes a Magic Millions Classic build-up at Doomben on Saturday.
"She's no angel in terms of being a pet but she's a serious racehorse," he said.
"She enjoys her work but if you invade her space she'll kick you whether you're a horse, a dog or a wall. She's quite happy to be doing her own thing and that's just her."
Greytfilly was given three weeks off by Heathcote after her spectacular Doomben win on October 27 when she displayed tremendous acceleration in the straight to win by almost three lengths.
"Only the very good ones can go `bang' and put three or four lengths on them and put the race beyond doubt in 20 or 30 metres which she did," he said.
"I think I made the right call to give her a break because if I kept going with her, whilst I might've guaranteed her a start in the Millions, holding her together after she'd been up for so long would've been a bigger challenge."
Heathcote elected to miss the Calaway Gal Stakes (1000m) at Eagle Farm on December 15 because he believes the Doomben race better suits her Millions lead-up.
"In hindsight the way the race was run last week my filly would've been right in the finish on the big track steaming down the outside but I chose the Doomben race for another reason," he said.
"If I'd run her last week it probably would've meant running again in the McLachlan which I'm reluctant to do because with these young horses they're still pretty fragile."
Although Greytfilly has drawn barrier 12 in the New Sky Racing Iphone App (1110m) at Doomben, Heathcote doesn't see it as a major disadvantage.
"The main chances in the race Craiglea Cruz and Real Surreal are also coming out of wide alleys so it balances things up," he said.
Real Surreal will race in blinkers after she hung out badly on the home turn before recovering for a narrow but impressive Eagle Farm win on December 4.
