Preferment in outside gate for Derby bid

Tuesday 31 March 2015, 12:25pm

The Chris Waller-trained Preferment will start from the outside barrier in a 10-horse field to contest the $2 million ATC Australian Derby.

Preferment will be trying to complete the Victoria Derby-Australian Derby double and the three-year-old is one of the favourites after a return to form when second in the Rosehill Guineas.

Rosehill Guineas winner Volkstok'n'Barrell will start from gate five while fellow New Zealander Mongolian Khan has the rails alley.

Tulloch Stakes winner Hauraki has barrier nine for Godolphin.

Preferment and Hauraki share Derby favouritism at $3.50.
