Blinkers are likely go on Greytfilly in the Magic Millions following her unlucky Doomben defeat on Saturday.
Greytfilly's odds for the Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 12 have been trimmed by TAB Fixed Odds from $26 into $21 after she charged home to finish an unlucky second to Mishani Gladiator in the Two-Year-Old Handicap (1110m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Trainer Rob Heathcote said he would consider putting blinkers on Greytfilly in the Millions so she hold a more prominent position at the Coast.
"If she can travel a bit closer she's good enough to win a race like that," Heathcote said.
Before lining up at Doomben, Greytfilly was a borderline case of making the Millions but the $10,000 she earned for running second has greatly improved her chances of qualifying.
Jockey Ryan Wiggins said Greytfilly would also be better suited when she stepped up to 1200m.
"I was at her the whole way to keep in touch because they were going so fast up front," Wiggins said.
"Her run peaked about 100 metres out but the 1200 metres is definitely what she's looking for."
Mishani Gladiator's trainer Les Ross was confident the gelding would improve on his eighth on debut at Eagle Farm on October 6.
"He drew a bad alley that day and didn't go on with the job but he drew the one gate today and it made all the difference," Ross said.
Meanwhile, Excellent Al will be spelled after his dismal failure in the Three-Year-Old Handicap (2000m).
The $2.20 favourite lost contact with the bulk of the field at the 600m and finished last, beaten more than 15 lengths.
At his previous start Excellent Al had a torrid run contesting the lead in the middle stages before finishing seventh against older rivals at Eagle Farm on December 8.
"I think in hindsight his last run has gutted him more than I expected," trainer Len Treloar told stewards.
"I was very happy with his work during the week but he'll be going for a spell after a run like that."
