Alma's Fury will be partnered by Glen Boss when he chases a belated stakes win in Brisbane after being beaten the barest of margins in the Group Two Villiers.
All Legal denied the Paul Murray-trained galloper victory in Sydney's summer feature at Warwick Farm on Saturday by a nose.
Murray said Alma's Fury had come through his Villiers run in great order and he was looking to travel the gelding to Queensland midweek ahead of the $200,000 Listed Bernborough Handicap (1600m) at Doomben on Saturday.
"I'm really happy with him this morning and he'll definitely be going to Brisbane at this stage," Murray said on Sunday.
"It doesn't look an overly strong race and Sydney form is probably a bit stronger. The form of the Villiers should give him a real good chance."
Blake Shinn, who rode Alma's Fury in the Villiers, had the right of refusal before Boss was booked.
"Glen Boss rang for the ride and when Blake decided to stay in Sydney I rang Glen straight back so he'll be riding him," Murray said.
Boss has ridden Alma's Fury once before in Brisbane, finishing sixth in the Group Three Rough Habit Plate in May last year.
Alma's Fury has had 18 of his 28 career starts in stakes company but is yet to crack it for a black-type win despite six placings.
It is something Murray would love to rectify on Saturday.
"He's always consistent in them and when I saw this race in Brisbane I thought it would be a good race to go for," Murray said.
"He definitely deserves to win one. He's been knocking on the door."
The Murray family had to settle for both minor placings in the Villiers with Bede Murray, Paul's father, the trainer of third-placed Darci Be Good.
Darci Be Good will head to the Listed Tattersalls Club Cup (2000m) at Rosehill on New Year's Day.
The Bernborough Handicap has attracted 19 nominations including last start Listed-winning mare Fire Up Fifi.
