All Too Hard impresses on return to work

Sunday 23 December 2012, 5:12pm

High-profile colt All Too Hard has returned to work at Rosehill but will do his lead-up racing to the Australian Guineas in Melbourne.

The Caulfield Guineas winner, who came back to the Sydney stable of the Hawkes Racing Team last week to begin his build-up, will race in the colours of Vinery Stud in what could be his final campaign.

Vinery acquired All Too Hard from beleaguered former billionaire Nathan Tinkler earlier this month in a package that included stallion Onemorenomore and a Hunter Valley property.

All Too Hard kicked off his spring campaign with three unsuccessful starts in Sydney before going on to win the Caulfield Guineas on his return to Melbourne.

He ended his spring preparation with a game second to star New Zealand galloper Ocean Park in the Cox Plate in October, his only defeat in four left-handed starts.

"He's back in Sydney and he looks super," co-trainer Michael Hawkes said.

"I really can't fault him. He looks more mature and a lot more grown up.

"It's great to get him back in and he'll only get better as he gets older.

"We're looking forward to his campaign."

The Group One Australian Guineas (1600m) is at Flemington on March 2.

Vinery's shareholders include retail mogul Gerry Harvey and businessman Neil Werrett who is a part-owner of champion Black Caviar, All Too Hard's half-sister.

Werrett was the underbidder on All Too Hard at the 2011 Easter Yearling Sale with Tinkler acquiring the colt for $1.025 million.

An overseas campaign for All Too Hard has also been mooted with a view to his future as a shuttle stallion.
