Brisbane stayer Poste Restante has held her condition after a road trip to Sydney, giving trainer Desleigh Forster every reason to talk up the mare's chances of winning the Summer Cup at Rosehill.

"She has travelled down well which is a relief because the problem with her is that she is a lightly-framed mare," Forster told AAP.

A New Zealand-bred, Poste Restante is a throwback to the type of lean and rangy stayers that once came unheralded to Australia but often left with our major Cups.

"There's not much of her but she has plenty of length about her," Forster said.

"In fact, she's a really nice mare. She's on the way up."

Poste Restante arrives in Sydney as one of the in-form horses of Brisbane racing as the winner of four races from five starts since she was left in the care of Forster after the winter carnival.

As such, she will take her place in what appears to be a sub-standard Group Three staying test as one of three horses who hold most interest in early markets on the race.

Forster trained her first Sydney winner when Adebisi claimed the Razor Sharp Handicap at Warwick Farm on Saturday and she expects Poste Restante's willingness to find the line to help her collect a festive season double.

"She only wins by small margins but that's just her," Forster said. "For some reason she just seems to know where the post is.

"I have taken the blinkers off her because she puts her head out when it counts ... that's her."

Michael Cahill gave up the Adebisi ride to stay in Brisbane to boot home a winner for Forster but he will be trying to keep an unbeaten record on Poste Restante at Rosehill.

"We've had this raced picked out all along. Mick is coming down and he's very keen on her," Forster said.

Le Roi holds his place as the $2.60 favourite and the Tony McEvoy stayer, in his second Australian campaign since being imported from France, will take similar recent form into the 2400m race as Poste Restante.

The four-year-old won twice in Adelaide in October and November before he scored a resounding Caulfield win.

The John O'Shea-trained Iggi Pop ($3.20) shades Post Restante for second favouritism after he was runner-up to in-form stayer Cantonese in the Christmas Cup.
