Bush filly Madame Fly will chase a dream result for her connections when she lines up at Canterbury on Saturday.
The Cessnock-based juvenile is being given her chance to try to book a place in the $2 million Magic Millions Classic on January 12 but needs to take a big step up in the ATC Membership On Sale Now Plate (1200m).
"We could have gone to the bush and maybe won $8000 which might have got her in, but we want to put her against the better ones to see if she's competitive," trainer Robert Davies said.
"If she's beaten out of sight we won't worry about it."
The filly won a midweek city race at Warwick Farm on December 5 and has $24,130 prizemoney which is not enough to be assured a start in the Magic Millions.
An order of entry released earlier this week had Madame Fly 20th in the ballot with many hopefuls to go around this weekend.
Davies, who has been training in Cessnock for 40 years, said the filly's owner David Walker was a regular at the Magic Millions carnival and would love to have a runner in the feature race.
The trainer said Madame Fly needed to have another run before the Gold Coast if that's where she heads.
The Canterbury race features impressive Rosehill debut winner Champagne Cath from the Chris Waller stable.
Aussies Love Sport will be Gai Waterhouse's representative and the colt has been a big firmer to win the Magic Millions.
Trainer Gerald Ryan is undecided whether Dothraki, an unplaced favourite in the Wyong Magic Millions on debut, will run.
The trainer said he would take blood from the colt on Friday and also study the field before deciding on a start.
Madame Fly was beaten by Sweet Kiss on debut at Newcastle with that filly subsequently third in last Saturday's Inglis Nursery.
At her second start Madame Fly beat Tropical Force with Frill Seeking an unlucky third.
Frill Seeking was second, beaten three lengths, by Assail in the Wyong Magic Millions last week.
The Clarry Conners-trained Assail is the reigning favourite for the Gold Coast feature.
