Benchmark racing has its critics, but Chris Waller says there is no better advertisement for the handicapping system than in-form sprinter You'll Never.
You'll Never will be trying to keep an unbeaten record since returning from a spell when he shoots for a hat-trick of wins in the Racing To Win Handicap at Rosehill on Saturday.
In seven wins from 35 starts, You'll Never has amassed more than $460,000 prize money without setting his hoof into black-type company.
In fact, the five-year-old will be having just his second start in open class company on Saturday after beating Mighty Lucky in his debut at that level at Rosehill last month.
"Gone are the days when you are restricted by the number of races you've won and you can find your own race," Waller said.
You'll Never is one of four horses Waller has nominated among the 10 received for the race with entries extended until Tuesday.
The premier trainer has also entered Eigelstein, Rugged Cross and She's Clean.
Waller said he was looking for a dry track with Holy Delusions but said the mare was unlikely to head to Queensland for the Gai Waterhouse Classic at Ipswich.
"I've got her in two races at Rosehill as well and the 1200 metres (benchmark 85) looks a suitable race so I'd just like the weather to stay fine all week," he said.
