The first-up performance of Diamond Earth at Warwick Farm on Saturday could be the platform to launch the speedy filly towards feature sprint races in Melbourne.

Trainer Anthony Cummings said Diamond Earth, winner of the Inglis Nursery at Warwick Farm just over 12 months ago, was primed to turn in the best first-up performance of her career in the Onemorenomore First Crop Handicap (1000m).

Diamond Earth is yet to win in two first-up starts but Cummings has been taken by the filly's recent trial win and her trackwork.

"She goes there and she's probably the most forward she's been for a first-up run and in the most suitable race she's probably been in for a first-up run," Cummings said.

Diamond Earth has raced twice at Warwick Farm, winning over 1000m in the Inglis Nursery but was no match for subsequent Group One winner Nechita when second to her over 1100m in June.

Cummings said the three-year-old was likely to head south after Saturday's race.

"I'll see how she goes first-up but I've got plans to take her to Melbourne for some of the sprint races there," he said.

"Her right distances are 1000 metres and 1100 metres and there is probably more opportunities for her in Melbourne after Saturday."

Cummings is even considering the major sprint races, such as the Group One Lightning Stakes over 1000m down the Flemington straight.

"But she's got to prove herself to be up to that," he said.

Fellow three-year-old Sessions is a clear-cut favourite at $2.50 with Diamond Earth on the second line of betting at $6.50.
