A sense of timing will not be lost on Hugh Bowman when the jockey rides high-profile Caulfield Guineas candidate Press Statement at Rosehill on Saturday.

Bowman will combine with Press Statement for the first time in the Stan Fox Stakes as the colt tries to rebound from a Golden Rose defeat that has cost Tye Angland a prized spring seat.

Press Statement emerged from the Golden Rose as the hardluck story of the Group One race after he was held up between horses and had to change course when Exosphere set up a winning break.

Angland had ridden Press Statement to two wins, including the Group One JJ Atkins during the Brisbane winter carnival.

His predicament is a circumstance every jockey can relate to and it has provided a potential Group One opportunity for Bowman.

"(The Golden Rose) was a very tactical event," Bowman said.

"A small field, high stakes, a very important race and that can happen."

It's now up to Bowman to ensure Press Statement heads to the Caulfield Guineas on October 10 in winning form.

"I may have got on him at the right time because it looks an ideal race for him on Saturday," Bowman said.

"You'd like to see him acquit himself well against this lot en route to the Caulfield Guineas."

Press Statement is the $4 second favourite to win the Caulfield Guineas behind Victorian colt Ready For Victory which races at Caulfield on Saturday.

Trainer Chris Waller will send Metallic Crown to Melbourne to clash with Ready For Victory in the Guineas Prelude.

Metallic Crown is on a hat-trick of wins and Waller's decision to split the stablemates will leave Press Statement with five rivals in the Stan Fox.

It also ensures Bowman and Waller will combine with two of the shortest-priced favourites at Rosehill with Catkins odds-on to win the $400,000 Golden Pendant.

Catkins was beaten in the Golden Pendant last year by Arabian Gold and they are expected to run the quinella again.

Bowman missed Catkins' return because of suspension and the popular mare sat off the pace before winning the Sheraco Stakes for James McDonald.

Twelve three-year-olds have stood their ground for the Gloaming Stakes with the Waller-trained Vanbrugh the early favourite.
