Every day you get a winner in Sydney is a good day.
That was the verdict of trainer Bjorn Baker after watching Music Magnate snare the benchmark 85 race over 1400m at Rosehill on Saturday.
Running on strongly alongside Chris Waller's Good Project, the four-year-old gelding ($4.40) managed to cross the line a long neck ahead.
For Baker, it was especially pleasing to see a stable favourite grab his third city win.
"I've always had a lot of time for him. I bought him as a yearling," Baker said.
"There aren't many horses I've taken to the city who've sat three deep and won regardless of whether they have cover."
Baker didn't rule out taking Music Magnate to Melbourne but said he would take his preparation step by step.
"We'll see how he comes through," he said.
"There might be another race in two weeks.
"It's a big effort."
