First US stakes winner for Lonhro

Sunday 27 September 2015, 2:59pm

Isotherm has given Darley stallion Lonhro his first American stakes winner, taking out the Grade Three Pilgrim for two-year-olds at Belmont.

Trained by George Weaver for Matthew Schera, Isotherm is now two-from-two on turf after finishing fourth in a dirt race on debut.

Schera said Isotherm's next start was likely to be the Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

"As long as he comes out good and healthy, we'll go to Keeneland," Schera said.

A champion on and off the track, Lonhro first went to his owner Sheikh Mohammed's Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for the 2012 breeding season.

The sheikh's Darley Australia decided against sending him back this year.
