Peeping to go the distance in Angst Stakes

Friday 9 October 2015, 4:24pm

Ron Quinton will settle on a distance test as the only spring challenge left for Angst Stakes favourite Peeping.

Ruling his stable pride and joy out of a Melbourne carnival appearance, Quinton has already made plans to spell the Golden Pendant winner after she runs at Randwick on Saturday.

"It will only be her fourth run of the campaign but that will be enough for her," Quinton said.

A winner of five races from her 10 starts, Peeping goes out to 1600m for the first time in her career and bookmakers are likely to take her on.

But there is enough stamina on the maternal side of her pedigree to give Quinton the confidence Peeping will see out a strong mile.

"Her dam Miss Marielle won a Hill Stakes and a Craven Plate over a middle distance," Quinton said.

Peeping has held her place at the top of betting on the Group Three race despite an early move for Ballet Suite, one of two runners for Chris Waller.

Ballet Suite has had her quote halved after opening at double figures, suggesting she is close to the form that delivered a Queensland Oaks lead-up win during the winter.

Berry Delicious has lost her place as second favourite to Ballet Suite but Tye Angland expects the mare's last-start minor placing to Peeping in the Golden Pendant to be the right form reference.

"There's not much of her but she tries her heart out every time," Angland said.
