Politeness wins to delight of owner Sly

Saturday 10 October 2015, 7:14pm

A barnstorming win from Politeness has provided a thrill for her owner Phil Sly who continues to battle cancer.

Sly was trackside on Saturday to watch Politeness storm down the outside to take out a Group Three race for mares over 1200m.

"It's just great to be able to come to the races and forget about the stuff that's been happening lately and just suck it all in and enjoy this," Sly said.

Politeness started the $3.50 favourite and chased down Wawail to win by a short half-head with 2-1/4 lengths to Bring Me The Maid third.

It was the Robert Smerdon-trained mare's second Group Three win at Caulfield in as many starts this spring.
