Mr Individual missed out on a Caulfield Guineas start but has given his connections some consolation with a convincing win in a lesser race.
Mr Individual had been aimed at Saturday's Caulfield Guineas, a race his sire Starspangledbanner won in 2009, but was left stranded as the first emergency when the $1 million Group One race was run and won impressively by Sydney colt Press Statement.
Instead the Leon and Troy Corstens-trained Mr Individual lined up in a benchmark race for three-year-olds over 1600m on Wednesday's Caulfield program and dictated the race for a comfortable win.
Mr Individual ($2.30 fav) had 1-1/2 lengths to spare on the line to He's Our Rokki with Manhattan Blues 2-1/4 lengths away third.
Troy Corstens said they would consider backing the colt up in the Listed Gothic Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
"We'll sit down and definitely talk about it and have a think about it," Corstens said.
"We'll pull a blood and see how he is after this and go from there."
The Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) is another option a week later, as is going to the paddock for a spell.
Corstens is convinced Mr Individual will be more mature next preparation.
"I think he's a real Australian Guineas sort of horse," Corstens said.
