Things fall into place for Deconstructed

Wednesday 14 October 2015, 6:08pm

The promising Deconstructed has overcame a pre-race scare to confirm his high rating with a powerful win at the Gold Coast.

Deconstructed ($2.50) made it two wins and a second from three starts for Eagle Farm trainer Liam Birchley when he came from second last to win Wednesday's John Morrisey Hcp (1400m).

Before the start apprentice James Orman asked vet Martin Lenz to check Deconstructed after the horse struck a hind leg on a fence on the way to the start.

Orman said Deconstructed had got his leg over a little marker post and he was worried it might have been worse than it was.

Deconstructed, who did his early racing in Victoria where he won at Geelong, is raced by Paul Makin, Ben Makin and Gary Newham.

Paul Makin's colours are best known on the star galloper Starcraft who won an AJC Derby, the Group One Mudgway in New Zealand and two Group One races in Europe.

"Paul was looking for a Queensland trainer and luckily Gary (Newham) suggested me. Deconstructed was unlucky when beaten first-up and he is a horse on the rise," Birchley said.

"We keep going up in distance with him and I think we will go to 1600 metres now, perhaps in town on a Saturday."

Jockey Tegan Harrison was glad she followed instructions when she completed a winning double for trainer Tony Gollan on Shipwrecked ($6) in the UBET Maiden (1200m).

"Tony told me to go forward from the wide barrier and I was a bit worried," she said.

"But I thought I better do as I was told."

"We did get caught three deep but he was too good."

Harrison and Gollan had earlier combined to win the John Edgar Maiden (1200m) with Says Me ($7.50).

Gollan later made it a winning treble when his apprentice Alannah Fancourt steered Mr Jetset ($8.50) to win the Luke Dittman Hcp (1200m).
