A decisive ride from Craig Williams has helped three-year-old filly Andrioli to an all-the-way win in the Yellowglen Plate at Caulfield.
From barrier nine of 11 in the first race on Caulfield Cup day, Williams pressed forward and was able to cross to the front before getting his mount to relax.
The Robert Smerdon-trained Andrioli ($9) kicked after straightening and her rivals were unable to bridge the margin.
Italy ($5.50) was three-quarters of a length away second while favourite Silent Sedition ($3.70) ran on from worse than midfield for third.
"I was drawn wide and it could have only been one or the other," Williams said of his decision to make a beeline for the front.
"We discussed the race and the opposition and Robert was pretty good in regards to not tying me down to any instructions.
"So it was easy to trust the horse and I was lucky that Andrioli was able to deliver today."
