Gleneagles will be entered for the Breeders' Cup Classic as the dust settles on his defeat at Ascot.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained dual Guineas winner has missed a number of engagements because of soft ground since winning the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

His participation in Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes was in some doubt right up until the 11th hour.

He eventually got the go-ahead to clash with Solow, but had to settle for sixth place, with O'Brien regretting the decision to run.

"He seems to be fine. The ground has been holding us up all year and I was saying 'no' (to him running) all year," O'Brien said.

"We always do what is right for the horse and he is a very low moving, very fast miler and I should have said no again.

O'Brien said Gleneagles would be entered for the Breeders' Cup Classic which would set up a clash American Triple Crown winner American Pharoah who will have his last race at Keeneland on October 31.
