The scintillating turn of foot that belongs to Winx is the reason Hugh Bowman has chosen the Epsom Handicap winner as his Cox Plate ride.
Bowman had the choice between Winx and last-start Turnbull Stakes-winning stablemate Preferment in Saturday's $3 million weight-for-age race.
He's booked to ride last year's Victoria Derby winner Preferment in the Melbourne Cup.
"For this race, it was just her turn of foot," Bowman said.
"(Preferment) doesn't have that and the likelihood is it's going to be required at some point."
Bowman says Winx, convincing winner of the Epsom last start, still has questions to answer in the Cox Plate when she takes on a high-class field.
"Her performances are there for everyone to see but the reality is the horses she's been beating are not at the same level as the horses she's going to meet this weekend," Bowman said.
"She feels like a horse that could be special but until we see her do it at the level she's going to be racing at this weekend, it's hard for anyone to know.
"But she's certainly put the writing on the wall and she's going into the race fit and well and as long as everything goes smoothly between now and then she's going to be answering lots of questions."
