Mark Zahra is ruing a suspension that will rule him out of the Melbourne Cup carnival after riding another winner at Moonee Valley.
Zahra rode a double at Moonee Valley on Friday night before guiding My Poppette to an all-the-way win in a Group Two race on Saturday.
However Zahra starts a 22-meeting suspension on Monday after receiving a ban following his winning ride on Our Voodoo Prince on Friday.
"It's very disappointing," Zahra said.
"I've never had a spring like this before, so I've got to cop it on the chin.
"I'm guilty of the charge but I'll have a look at the severity. I'll have to get a fair chunk off to get back for Emirates day.
"It's either have a throw at the stumps or go to Bali and pretend the races aren't on."
Zahra took My Poppette straight to the front and the favourite, backed from $3.60 to $2.70, scored a 2-3/4 length win from Bengal Cat ($10) with Thames Court ($8.50) a length away third.
My Poppette was trained by Colin and Cindy Alderson before starting her latest under Robert Smerdon.
"Mark rode this horse when Cindy trained it and he was keen to stay on her," Smerdon said.
"With that early connection and her quirky behaviour at the barriers he had all that in hand."
Smerdon said My Poppette was likely to be spelled for an autumn campaign.
Zahra's suspension couldn't have come at a worse time for Smerdon with the jockey being booked for stable runners Politeness, Under Louvre and My Utopia at Flemington next Saturday.
