Muzyka may have only won a provincial maiden but trainer Gerald Ryan is taking heart from the form lines of last year's Wakeful Stakes winner.

Thunder Lady broke her duck on the corresponding weekend in 2014 and went on to win the Group Two Wakeful Stakes before running second in the VRC Oaks.

All going well, the Group One Classic will be the next step for Muzyka after Saturday's Wakeful (2000m) at Flemington.

The filly won a 2100m-maiden at Wyong on October 17 to put herself in the frame for a Melbourne campaign.

"It was a very good win against older mares. She gave them eight lengths start then beat them by 5-1/2 lengths," Ryan said.

"It was the same day Thunder Lady won last year.

"She has always looked like a stayer and was bought to be an Oaks filly.

"Her mother, Music In My Heart, is a sister to Mahler, the Irish horse who ran so well in a Melbourne Cup."

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Mahler ran third in the 2007 Melbourne Cup won by Efficient.

Muzyka was one of 20 fillies entered for the Wakeful, the traditional lead-up to the VRC Oaks (2500m) on Thursday week.

Ahead of the Wakeful, Muzyka is a $31 chance for the Oaks with Sacred Eye the $2.90 favourite ahead of Jameka at $3.80.

On the same day Muzyka won at Wyong, Sacred Eye took out the Group Three Caulfield Classic while Jameka won Saturday's Group Two Vase at Moonee Valley.

Sacred Eye is trained by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig while Ciaron Maher, who prepared last year's Oaks winner Set Square, trains Jameka.

Sacred Eye is among the Wakeful entries as is the Clarry Conners-trained Dawnie Perfect, the winner of the Group Three Ethereal Stakes at the Caulfield meeting.
