Trainer Mark Webb hopes he can continue his successful association with Oaklands Stud by providing its new stallion Siderius with a first city winner on Saturday.
Webb's two-year-old Burn Notice gave Group Two winner Siderius his first overall winner as a sire when the colt won at the Gold Coast last month.
Burn Notice is the only winner in the Novotel Brisbane Airport Handicap at Doomben where he will be ridden by senior jockey Adam Best.
Webb was originally based at Toowoomba where he won several premierships and was the main trainer for Oaklands Stud boss Neville Stewart and his racing partners.
"I couldn't count the number of wins I have had who were by Oaklands' sires," Webb said.
Webb moved to the Sunshine Coast two years ago and has had a steady stream of winners but hopes this will his best season.
"I won plenty of premierships in Toowoomba and I was looking for a new challenge," he said.
"Things have been going along well and we have some nice young horses including a few by Siderius. I liked the look him as a sire from the first time I saw him."
Burn Notice cost $28,000 as a yearling and he is bred to be an early comer being out of the city-winning mare Flammable.
Siderius was trained by Anthony Cummings when he won the Group Two Pago Pago Stakes at Rosehill.
