Quality field expected for G1 Orr Stakes

Wednesday 10 February 2016, 6:57am

Lucky Hussler is the early favourite for the C F Orr Stakes ahead of acceptances for the Group One race at Caulfield.

A star-studded line-up is expected when the final field is declared on Wednesday with Lucky Hussler one of 15 individual Group One winners in the 22 original nominations.

The Darren Weir-trained sprinter-miler opened at $6 with the TAB and tightened to $4.40 with New Zealand visitor Turn Me Loose, the Emirates Stakes winner, at $5.50.

Lucky Hussler is expected to be one of three Orr Stakes starters for Weir along with Trust In A Gust and Stratum Star.

Victoria Derby winner Tarzino and Caulfield Guineas winner Press Statement are not expected to be among the acceptances.

Trainer Chris Waller says Press Statement will stay in Sydney and be saved for the Hobartville Stakes in another week while the Mick Price-trained Tarzino is expected to run in Saturday's Autumn Stakes against his own age.
