Hosting has been pinpointed as the likely flag bearer for Greg Eurell's autumn team and takes the first major step towards realising his potential at Caulfield on Saturday.
The three-year-old is the winner of his only start at Mornington last August and Eurell is setting him on a path that will take in the Australian Guineas, a race he won with Apache Cat in 2006, and a trip to Sydney.
"He's got the opportunity to prove himself," Eurell said looking ahead to Hosting's autumn campaign.
"A lot of these horses, if you don't ask the question then you don't get the answer."
Hosting, described as having "a lot of upside" resumes in the Listed Manfred Stakes (1200m) with Craig Williams to ride and could be joined by stablemate Force Command.
Hosting missed the spring after he stretched a joint capsule in his near-front leg.
But the time spent out could prove a blessing, Eurell said.
"We like the horse and thought it was best to ease up and let the joint take up again," Eurell said.
"It's as good as gold now.
"As always, time is a big plus with these horses.
"We're half hoping because he had a good break while the others were belting it out in the spring that it might help him this time in."
Hosting is not wound up for his first-up assignment and Eurell is adamant he'll get better as he gets to 1400m in C S Hayes Stakes second-up before going to 1600m.
"He might even stretch to a Derby distance," Eurell said.
The Manfred Stakes attracted 19 nominations including the Peter Snowden-trained Albrecht, winner of the Up and Coming Stakes and runner-up to stablemate Epaulette in the Group One Golden Rose.
Eurell also has Force Command nominated.
Force Command hasn't raced since September and is also nominated for a maiden at Sale on Sunday.
"These two horses work together and he (Force Command) is in very good order," Eurell said.
"He's an improved horse this time and he has to be. We had some nice races picked out for him but it didn't go our way in the spring."
There were 21 nominations for the Listed Chairman's Stakes (1100m) for two-year-olds and 24 for the Listed Mornington Cup Prelude (2000m).
The Listed W.J Adams Stakes (1000m) has 10 nominations.
