Queensland cobalt case delayed

Tuesday 23 February 2016, 7:18am

An inquiry into cobalt irregularities found in two of Queensland trainer Lyn Paton's horses has been adjourned for at least a week.

Racing Queensland stewards opened an inquiry into the irregularities taken from Pink Chaperone, who raced at Toowoomba, and Doing Our Best, who ran at Kilcoy, last October.

Chief steward Allan Reardon said Paton had asked for an adjournment to get further legal and scientific advise.

He said the inquiry would resume as soon as possible next month.

Reardon said an inquiry into a cobalt irregularity found in a sample taken from a horse trained by Rochelle Smith would be held soon in Toowoomba.

RQ also has cases pending against involving trainers from the harness and greyhound industries.
