Winx, Mongolian Khan head G1 Rwick field

Wednesday 24 February 2016, 10:54am

Sydney's first Group One race of the year has attracted a field of 12 headlined by the reigning Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup winners.

Glamour mare Winx and New Zealand star Mongolian Khan contest a star-studded field which also includes Godolphin trio Hartnell, Magic Hurricane and Hauraki along with Chris Waller's latest import Storm The Stars.

Kerrin McEvoy has the one-off mount on Mongolian Khan, who has drawn barrier four, while Winx will have regular jockey Hugh Bowman and jumps from gate eight.

Storm The Stars is a Group Two winner in England and will be chasing his first victory over less than 2000m with Tye Angland to ride.

The Chipping Norton is the standout of the six stakes races at Randwick on Saturday.

There will also be strong interest in the Skyline and Sweet Embrace Stakes for the two-year-olds with the Golden Slipper just three weeks away.
