Dan Meagher excited about Singapore

Friday 26 February 2016, 8:00am

Dan Meagher is looking forward to returning to Singapore as a fully fledged trainer.

For the past four years Meagher has been in a partnership with his father, Melbourne Cup winning trainer John, and brother Chris at Eagle Farm.

The Singapore Turf Club has announced he will have 47 boxes when he takes up his new post from April.

"It is a great honour to be given the chance in Singapore. It is one of the top racing centres of the world and it gives me a chance to compete at the top level," Meagher said.

"My wife is from Singapore and I have spent a lot of time there and really enjoy it."

The 32-year-old previously spent more than a decade in Singapore with his father and brothers.

Meagher and brothers Chris and Paul assisted their father to many wins, including the 2000 Singapore Gold Cup with Kim Angel.

The Meaghers left Singapore in 2011 with a record of 577 winners including 29 at Group level.
