All Too Hard wins jumpout at Flemington

Friday 1 February 2013, 3:27pm

All Too Hard was the star attraction at Friday's Flemington jumpouts and didn't let onlookers down with a hitout that signalled he was on target for his autumn assignments.

The Caulfield Guineas winner stepped out for his second jumpout in as many weeks, winning his 800m heat in 46.9 seconds.

Hall of Fame trainer John Hawkes, his son Wayne and Vinery Stud's Peter Orton watched from the grandstand and gave the high-profile three-year-old their tick of approval ahead of his expected return in the Group One C F Orr Stakes (1400m) on Saturday week.

"They're only jumpouts but he handled it OK. He did everything right and that's all he's got to do," John Hawkes said.

Hawkes said the colt would run in the Orr Stakes or against his own age next week.

"Most probably in the Orr but we'll just see how he pulls up from the trial and go from there," he said.

All Too Hard won the Caulfield Guineas in the spring and ended his campaign with a gallant second to Ocean Park in the Cox Plate.

Those involved with the colt hope the best is yet to come.

"We've looked after him and haven't overdone it with him as a young horse. We're hoping to have a really, really good autumn now," Hawkes said.

Wayne Hawkes has been training in partnership with his brother Michael and father John since 2008 and holds the colt in high esteem.

"He's the best horse I've trained. He's flying," he said.

All Too Hard is early favourite for the Australian Guineas and joint favourite for the Doncaster Mile.

Vinery Stud acquired the half-brother to Black Caviar from beleaguered former billionaire Nathan Tinkler in December in a package that included stallion Onemorenomore and a Hunter Valley property.

Orton said an overseas trip for All Too Hard was also possible.

"He'll go overseas if he's done all he needs to do here," Orton said.

Bart Cummings-trained three-year-olds Norzita and Lunar Rise were also among the horses to jump out at Flemington.

Group One Flight Stakes winner Norzita is scheduled to resume at Moonee Valley on February 22 in the Listed Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m).
