Zielke keeps it short and sweet with Diff

Saturday 12 March 2016, 2:19pm

Trainer John Zielke is considering keeping smart filly Spot The Diff to races around 1200m despite her strong win on Saturday.

Sent out favourite, Spot The Diff ($2) continued Zielke's recent dominance of Queensland two-year-old racing when she won the $100,000 XXXX Summer Plate.

Zielke has now won seven two-year-old races with four different horses in recent months.

"I thought Spot The Diff might have won a bit easier," Zielke said.

"The Queensland Sires' Produce (over 1350m) was our original plan for Spot the Diff but after today we might look at keeping her at 1200 metres.

"There are plenty of stakes races for her around that distance in the winter," he said.

Zielke also praised winning apprentice Luke Dittman who was unable to claim in the Plate.

"In my opinion Luke is the best apprentice in Queensland and he can ride the horses whether he can claim or not," Zielke said.

Well-bred galloper Double Superlative ($12) ran a much better race at his second start to finish second, three quarters of a length behind Spot the Diff.

Double Superlative is out of good-producing mare Kidnapper, making him a half-brother to former star sprinter Cape Kidnappers.
