He Or She wins Group Two Blamey Stakes

Saturday 12 March 2016, 3:43pm

A decision to drop He Or She back in distance got the desired result in the Group Two Blamey Stakes at Flemington.

He Or She came from off the speed in a fast-run race and overpowered his rivals late, beating The United States by a long neck with favourite Stratum Star a length away third.

"They flew (today)," trainer David Hayes said.

"It was a really hard-run race but we made a good call here.

"We had to make a call between the Australian Cup (over 2000m) and the mile and he was a bit disappointing over 1800 metres the other day in the Peter Young Stakes.

"He's a big finisher, but I think he needs hard-run miles.

"We might look at the Doncaster now."

He or She is weighted on 50kg in the Doncaster and was 49th in the latest order of entry.
