There is something about the Labour Day weekend that agrees with apprentice Dylan Dunn.

A year ago, he rode a quartet of winners at the Towong meeting in country Victoria and on Monday secured his first city treble with successive wins at Moonee Valley.

Dunn rode Giddyup ($4.40 fav) in the City Jeep Compass Handicap then Global Assault ($15) in the City Jeep Wrangler Handicap, completing his treble aboard Thames Court ($4.60 fav) for David Brideoake in the City Jeep Cherokee Handicap.

"This is what you dream of," Dunn said.

"It just puts a lot of doubters back in their place.

"I started my trade with David so it's good to get a winner for him."

The son of multiple Group One winning jockey Dwayne Dunn said he was knocked back from the Racing Victoria apprentices' school and had to kick off in South Australia with Philip Stokes.

He has always had to keep a close watch on his weight and needed to lose 1kg on Monday after a suspension sidelined him last week.

"There were a lot of people along the way that said my weight would be hard to control," Dunn said.

"After all the fitness tests they said it would be hard to lose any more weight without it being detrimental to my health.

"Basically I had to call up Racing SA and they were willing to give me a go.

"It was pretty disheartening when I couldn't start my trade.

"It was a bit of a detour but I'm back here and trying to ride city winners."

Dunn rides at 55kg and says when that becomes a struggle he will put his weight up to 56kg.

"I'm looking to stay in the game as long as I can," he said.

Two of Dunn's winners are expected to rise from midweek city level to black type races in coming weeks.

Bruno Rouge-Serret said Lindsay Park trainers David Hayes and Tom Dabernig were looking at the Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley on March 24 with Giddyup who made it back-to-back wins with her victory.

Brideoake has Adelaide stakes races in mind for Thames Court including the Australasian Oaks after her first-up win over 1200m.
