Lady Sniper wins Listed Gosford Guineas

Thursday 24 March 2016, 5:58pm

Bjorn Baker-trained Lady Sniper will be aimed at a Group race during the Sydney autumn carnival after winning the Listed Gosford Guineas.

The filly was ridden quietly, settling third last before jockey Jason Collett took a gap in the straight.

Once given clear running Lady Sniper ($17) powered home to beat home Kimberley Star ($5) by 1-1/4 lengths, with Chetwood ($6.50) 2-1/2 lengths away in third.

Baker said Lady Sniper would now tackle either the Group Three PJ Bell Stakes or the Group Two Arrowfield Sprint.

"You've got to be in to win," Baker said.

"She's putting together a very good record bar her last start."

Baker signalled he might also target the $400,000 Scone Guineas in May.

Zestful won the Provincial Championships Qualifier to strengthen trainer Kris Lees' hand for the $400,000 final at Randwick on April 9.
