Miss Promiscuity on path to G1 race in SA

Saturday 26 March 2016, 3:49pm

Apprentice Dylan Dunn's confidence in Miss Promiscuity's chances at Caulfield soared just before he was legged aboard the mare.

Miss Promiscuity turned in an encouraging first-up performance when running a faster last 600m than Malaguerra when finishing fourth to that horse in a Listed race at Flemington three weeks ago.

Malaguerra won the Star Kingdom Stakes at Rosehill in Sydney on Saturday, 20 minutes before Dunn steered Miss Promiscuity to victory in the Geoff Murphy Handicap (1100m).

"Once I saw it win at Rosehill I was even more confident," Dunn said.

"I spoke to the owner (Robert Crabtree) and he just said ride it like the best horse in the race, and that's what I did."

Miss Promiscuity settled on speed in the race for mares and the $3 favourite held off the challenge from Sabatini ($4.60) to win by a long neck with Tycoon Tara ($12) 1-3/4 lengths away third.

Miss Promiscuity's most recent win before Saturday was the Group Three Sir John Monash Stakes over the same course and distance in July when ridden by Dylan Dunn's father Dwayne.

Co-trainer Tom Dabernig said the Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) on May 7 in Adelaide was the target for Miss Promiscuity who is expected to have one more start before the Group One race.

"I think she'll be peaking right around that time and it looks a nice option for her," Dabernig said.
