Change of plans for Zamzam

Sunday 27 March 2016, 2:56pm

The victory of Najmaat at Caulfield has forced a change of plans for her stablemate Zamzam.

Co-trainer Tom Dabernig said the two fillies would be split up with Zamzam to be given her chance in the Group One Sires' Produce Stakes on Saturday along with another stablemate Seaburge.

Najmaat, a Caulfield winner on Saturday, will now head to Sydney for the Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on the second day of The Championships.

"We were thinking of the Percy Sykes with Zamzam but we'll try her at the 1400 metres and keep Najmaat for the Percy Sykes," Dabernig said.

"It's not a bad problem to have."

Zamzam ran third to the Mick Price-trained pair, Extreme Choice and Flying Artie, in last month's Blue Diamond Stakes before winning at Moonee Valley over 1200m on March 18.

The filly has settled in well since heading to Sydney and Dabernig, the training partner of David Hayes, says Seaburge has also been doing well since heading to Lindsay Park's Randwick stable.

Seaburge, the winner of the VRC Sires' Produce at Flemington on March 12, has only had the three starts for two wins and a second-up placing at Sandown.

Nick Hall, who was successful on Zamzam at Moonee Valley, rides the filly on Saturday with Mark Zahra retaining the ride on Seaburge.

Seaburge sits on the fourth line of betting at $8 in Sires' betting with Zamzam a $15 chance.

Godolphin colt Telperion, fourth behind Capitalist in the Golden Slipper, holds favouritism at $3.50.
