Tuesday 5 February 2013, 6:32pm

Apprentice Blake Spriggs is the latest rider to be sidelined through injury after breaking his ankle at the Rosehill barrier trials on Tuesday.

Spriggs has suffered two fractures to his left ankle after an incident before the eighth heat which was a trial for two-year-olds.

"Blake has fractured his ankle in two places and will require surgery," Racing NSW's Maurice Logue said.

Leading Sydney rider Nash Rawiller is still recovering from a broken ankle sustained on December 18 while his Melbourne-based brother Brad broke a bone in his foot in a barrier incident at Terang on Sunday and is expected to be out for the next three weeks.
