Leading jockey Nash Rawiller says he's on target for a race return in two weeks after riding a horse in trackwork for the first time this year on Thursday.
Rawiller broke his ankle in an incident in the barriers at a Rosehill trial session on December 18.
The dual Sydney premiership winner is aiming to return at Wyong on February 20 ahead of an important race meeting three days later.
"I only worked one this morning but it was good and I've come through it well," Rawiller said.
"At this stage I'm on track to return on the 20th at Wyong. I'll hopefully just have one or two rides there and have myself spot-on for the weekend's racing on the 23rd.
"How correct that will be, I'll know more in the next few days."
Rawiller is keen for his return to coincide with that of Rosehill Guineas winner Laser Hawk in the Group Two Apollo Stakes (1400m) on February 23 at Warwick Farm.
Laser Hawk hasn't raced since his third in the Australian Derby last April.
"He's down to run on that day and that would be a really nice ride to kick off with," Rawiller said.
Among Rawiller's key autumn carnival rides are star Gai Waterhouse-trained gallopers Pierro and More Joyous who have both impressed in barrier trial wins recently with Rawiller watching from the sidelines.
"I couldn't be happier with them," Rawiller said.
"They are both doing really well around the stables and look terrific.
"They've come through their trials in good order and it should be really good times ahead."
