Bid Spotter provided in-form apprentice Tegan Harrison with a major career milestone at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Bid Spotter was the 38th winner of the season for Harrison, taking her past the previous record for most city successes in a Brisbane season by a female rider.
That mark was set by Lacey Morrison in 2002/03.
"It's a great honour because Lacey's a really good rider and I feel very privileged to have done it," Harrison said.
Bid Spotter ($5) travelled comfortably in fourth place for Harrison before edging past Sam's Town ($10) in the final stages.
"Small fields can sometimes be a bit tricky but the race panned out really well for us," Harrison said.
"I thought when we came up outside Sam's Town we'd get past it and scoot away but he kept putting up a fight and made us work hard for the win."
Successful trainer Toby Edmonds was full of praise for Bid Spotter who hadn't raced since the Magic Millions Stayers Cup (1800m) at the Gold Coast on January 12 when he finished third to Kinnersley.
"He was due to race in Sydney last Saturday but the track was very heavy and he had to travel home again without having a run," Edmonds said.
"In these races they always bundy off down the back straight and the frontrunners are always hard to run down but Tegan rode him really well."
Meanwhile, Tip Top Tiger is likely to have a crucial gear change at his next start following his costly defeat in the XXXX Gold Handicap (1000m).
The son of Fastnet Rock, a $420,000 purchase as a yearling, was slow to muster speed out of the barriers before finishing fifth to Grey Countess as the $2.40 favourite.
"He was a bit laid-back today so I'll throw a set of blinkers on and step him up to 1200 metres in a fortnight," trainer Danny Bougoure said.
