The youngest of the famous Freedman brothers has added his name to the Sydney metropolitan winners' list at his first attempt.
Michael Freedman, who began his training career in Singapore, returned to Australia earlier this year to set up a stable at Rosehill.
His other brothers, Lee, Anthony and Richard, have at various times been solo trainers.
Henry The Createth gave Michael Freedman his first win when he made his debut at Wyong last month and on Saturday stepped up to city class on a rain-soaked Rosehill surface.
The $7 chance came from near last to beat Brulee ($4.20) by a half neck with early leader Legerity ($2.50 fav) a short neck third.
"It's a big thrill and a bit of a relief," Freedman said.
"I was worried about the surface but now we've found out he can handle it and it opens up options for him.
"He cost just $30,000 and has been great for the stable. If I had stayed in Singapore he would have gone there.
"But when the owners heard I was coming back to Australia they decided to leave him here and race him with me."
Freedman said his fledgling stable consisted mostly of yearlings with a smattering of two-year-olds.
Glyn Schofield said Henry The Createth handled the heavy surface well after a hiccup at the start.
"He slipped a little coming out of the barrier but picked himself up," Schofield said.
"He kept the momentum going and it was a good, tough win."
