Gary Portelli will take the easiest option with Bella Rossie this week in an attempt to boost her rating ahead of autumn stakes goals.
The mare will run in an 1100m Benchmark 69 at Canterbury on Wednesday in preference to the Group Two Breeders Classic four days later at Rosehill where a strong field including Red Tracer, Steps In Time and Pear Tart is expected.
Bella Rossie has only been in Portelli's stable for a short time but her unlucky second in last month's Magic Millions Sprint convinced she is capable of taking the step to higher grade races.
"Canterbury is the easier option to try to get her rating up," Portelli said.
"I want to run her in the Triscay on Saturday week and I'm worried she might get balloted out.
"She is only a 65 rater here but was rated 71 in Queensland so hopefully she can win tomorrow and get that up."
The Listed Triscay Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm is a quality handicap.
Christian Reith will ride the mare whose only other start for Portelli brought victory in a 900m dash at Newcastle before the Magic Millions.
The Chris Waller-trained High On Believing won't start in the 1550m race for apprentice riders at Canterbury if the track is too wet and will instead be saved for Saturday's Benchmark 85 over 1200 metres.
The four-year-old was sent back to the trials after lacklustre performance at Warwick Farm on Australia Day.
He belied his poor effort with a 16-length win in the trial to get his campaign back on track.
"He and Disciple are both doubtful it's wet," Waller said.
Even if the pair don't run, Sydney' premier trainer goes to Canterbury with a strong team as he approaches 100 winners for the season.
When he won his first premiership in 2010-11, Waller hit the century mark in late June while last season the milestone wasn't reached until May.
With more than five months remaining this term, Waller is on 96-1/2 heading to Canterbury.
