Multiple Group One winner Shoot Out has lost nothing by the washout of Tuesday's barrier trials at Randwick.
Trainer Chris Waller said the gelding had a solid gallop instead and would not contest the rescheduled heats next week.
"We found out about five minutes before we were due to go to Randwick that they were off so we gave him a gallop at Rosehill instead," Waller said.
"He would have only had two gallops after the trial so this way he just has three gallops instead."
Always a crowd favourite, Shoot Out is scheduled to have his first autumn start in the Group Two Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm on February 23 ahead of his defence of the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) two weeks later.
The Randwick trials have been transferred to next Monday with new nominations called.
A set of trials at Warwick Farm on Friday holds much interest with Group One winning colts Pierro and It's A Dundeel in the same 1200m heat as the Waller-trained import Gatewood.
The Geelong Cup winner will be set for the BMW (2400m) on April 6 with Waller deciding the weight-for-age feature is a better target than the Doncaster.
"I don't want to bugger him up over the shorter distances so he will be on a BMW path," he said.
"He's settled into the stable well and will take a traditional path to the BMW."
The former John Gosden-trained Gatewood failed to qualify for a start in the Melbourne Cup when he finished sixth in the Lexus won by his now stablemate Kelinni who went on to finish fourth in the big race.
Kelinni will run in an 800m heat on Friday which also features Group One winning mare Streama.
