Gai Waterhouse has knocked back the chance to give star colt Pierro a familiarisation gallop at Moonee Valley ahead of Friday night's Bill Stutt Stakes.

"He doesn't need to look at it," Waterhouse said.

"He goes straight there on Friday night. He's spot-on."

Pierro has arrived safely in Melbourne ahead of the 1600m Group Two contest for three-year-olds which has been pinpointed by Waterhouse as the unbeaten colt's lead-in to the Group One Caulfield Guineas.

It also gives last season's two-year-old triple crown winner a look at Moonee Valley ahead of a planned Cox Plate start later in the carnival.

Pierro handled the trip from Sydney without any issues.

"He got down there through the night and Gai just said that he's travelled down really, really well," owner Greg Kolivos said.

Nash Rawiller will partner the Cox Plate favourite on Friday night and then return to Sydney where his book of rides on Saturday includes champion mare More Joyous in the $250,000 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill.

"There's not much I can say about them. They do the talking for themselves, don't they?" Rawiller said.

"I'm looking forward to it."
