Rain has helped put an end to any over-analysis that may have clouded trainer Adam Duggan's thoughts about the chances of Frozen Rope in the Listed Parramatta Cup at Rosehill on Saturday.
Racing officials might be cursing their fortune but Duggan - with one proviso - will now be one of the happiest trainers with a Rosehill runner.
That's because a rain-soaked start to the Sydney autumn is certain to condemn the Silver Slipper Stakes meeting to being run on a heavy track for the second year in a row.
"The wetter the better I reckon - as long as the races are on," Duggan said.
Frozen Rope is more adept in soft going than most horses as the winner of three races from four starts on heavy tracks, the most emphatic being an eight-length romp at Wyong as an under-developed three-year-old.
Add in his versatility and it's not hard to see why Frozen Rope won't be out of place as one of the shortest-priced favourites on a Rosehill card that features glamour colt Pierro and accomplished mudlark Red Tracer.
"As a trainer you are always harder on them doing the form when they are one of your own," Duggan said.
"I've been looking for a reason why he might be able to get beaten but I can't really find one.
"From the outside looking in, if I was a punter I would probably have him as near a good thing because you can put him anywhere in a race now and he handles these tracks."
Frozen Rope confirmed he was a horse on the move when he graduated to open class racing with a Rosehill win a fortnight ago.
It's another step to black-type level, but Frozen Rope sits at the top of Parramatta Cup betting at $2.50 with the South Australian-trained Pelicano and former Queenslander Carry Me Bluey assessed as his main threats.
